Wheelers Hill PS Visits KOG

Childcare Wheelers Hill Primary School
Last week, the Kinder children at Kids on Gallaghers Child Care Centre were very lucky to have a visit from students that attend Wheelers Hill Primary School.

The three students read books to the children and got them to search for things in the story using a magnifying glass.

Learning experiences such as this one, introduce our children to early literacy concepts and also enrich their communication development. They support social skills vital for the transition to primary school, and provide us with a wonderful connection to our local community. Through reading activities like this, children are exposed to new concepts and ideas. And, most importantly, it sparks a love and passion for reading!

The visit was just as beneficial for the primary school children, giving them an opportunity to practice reading out loud. It also provided important social and emotional development opportunities including teamwork, resilience, and confidence-building.

It was such a lovely visit and a beautiful experience for everyone involved. This is something that Kids on Gallaghers Child Care Centre will be doing on a regular basis as a great way to connect with the local community. We look forward to collaborating with Wheelers Hill Primary School again in the near future, and hope to establish similar networks with other neighbouring primary schools and community organisations going forward.
